Aftercare is crucial to the long term success of
your weight loss treatment.

Weight loss
surgery is the first step in a long journey. A comprehensive
aftercare programme with ongoing support is essential to the
long term success of your treatment.
Whichever weight loss surgery procedure you have chosen, and
whether treated in Gloucestershire or treated elsewhere, our
Specialist Nurses, Registered Dieticians, Clinical Psychologist
and Fitness Adviser work alongside consultant surgeon David Hewin to provide you with a unique aftercare programme designed
to fit your lifestyle, meet your individual needs and ensure you
achieve your weight loss goals.
In the first few days following surgery, you will receive
frequent telephone support. A first review appointment will be
arranged with Consultant Surgeon David Hewin, the Registered
Dieticians and if appropriate the Clinical Psychologist.
We will agree a timetable of ongoing appointments on a one to
one basis to review and monitor your progress, ensuring that you
remain healthy and on target for your weight loss goals. We will
also keep you fully up to date with news, events and activities
through our monthly e-newsletter.
At your 12 month anniversary we will carry out a review to
assess the level of ongoing support you need to maintain weight
loss. We can provide further aftercare programmes to meet your
individual needs.
We fully recognize the immense value of attending patient
support groups and attend the Gloucester and Cheltenham monthly
sessions by invitation.

The Weight Loss Clinic 12 month Aftercare Programme includes:
- Post operative review meeting with weight loss surgery team
- Follow up one to one consultations with your weight loss surgeon David Hewin to review and monitor progress
- Post-treatment booklet detailing personalised advice from Registered Dieticians, and Fitness Adviser, with real examples from patients treated by David Hewin to help you through the early days following weight loss surgery
- Medical Identification card and free medical identity jewellery
- Gastric band adjustment record card
- Telephone and email access to our specialist bariatric nurse offering expert medical advice in addition to regular medical reviews
- Telephone and email access to our dieticians offering nutritional advice in addition to regular reviews
- An emergency helpline
- Unlimited laparoscopic gastric band adjustments for gastric band patients subject to consultant review
- Access to Support groups for patients and family members
- Counselling support for patients and family members
- Specialist group sessions dealing with common and topical weight loss surgery issues
- 12 month anniversary review to assess ongoing support requirements
